Sandy is the Group Executive Director of Science & Information and Chief Information Officer for the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources (DEW). Sandy is accountable for the coordination and delivery of DEW’s core science capability to support key environmental decisions in South Australia including threatened and abundant species, water management and conservation.
Sandy leads the development of partnerships between and across government and research sectors, environmental not-for-profit groups and industry, where science supports policy development and decision making.
Sandy has played a critical leadership and collaboration role with PIRSA and The Nature Conservancy, in developing the successful business case for shellfish reef restoration in SA. This has resulted in a successful federal government National Stronger Regions Fund application to co-fund a total project worth $3.7mill to build a 20ha shellfish reef restoration project off the coast of Ardrossan.
